KR Levin Short Stories

Kite Strings & Brisket

Kite Strings & Brisket is a collection of stories written by KR Levin from the past 22 years. They range in tenor from science fiction to absurdity to tears with a broad sense of adventure mixed in to make the heart race.

From the dark, and sometimes disturbing, Salina’s World to the feline lessons learned in Number 19, the stories in these pages leave no emotion untouched. At times, those emotions take the reader to places that are uncomfortable and more often than not, avoided.

KR Levin has loved a life which incorporated working on movie sets to flying in air shows in a WWII twin-engine bomber to sitting in a park wondering what would happen if his son was kidnapped in his presence and then composing Daddy’s Day. These stories will spin and wind their plots around the reader’s brain and then twist away all normalcies at the very end.

The concepts unveiled here take the reader to the edge of space and then traverse time to witness a battle between a student pilot and Mother Nature while flying through the skies of the Mojave Desert. These ideas take the reader from an absurd wild west adventure to witness the devoted bond between a brother and a sister on the upper west side of Manhattan.  Ultimately, they will earn the audience’ understanding that there is a point to it all, that we survive by struggling and helping each other to reach for a light that may perpetually lay just beyond our grasp, but always provides a beacon.
